Week 2 of the Micro Aquarium

During week two of my Aquarium project I saw a lot more organisms in my aquarium. I saw three Euglena, one Oscillatoria, numerous Bodo, , three Spro Gyra, and two Vorticella (Rainis and Russell 1996). All the organisms identified were at the bottom of the aquarium. Euglena, Oscillatoria, Bodo, , Spro Gyra, and Vorticella are all single celled organisms. Spyrogyra is multicellular. Oscillatoria is a blue green color, but is photosynthetic. The Euglena,  Bodo, , Spro Gyra, and ,Vorticella were all chlorophyll green. Most of the organism were stationary, but the Bodohad a sideways movement. Numerous organisms have appeared since the initial set up of the tank. At the beginnig there were very few organism, and now there are a lot more. I was unable to see any dead organisms at the bottom of the tank.

I set up my Micro Aquarium by first putting mud and leaf debris into the tank. I then put water from the French Broad River in the rest of the tank. I then added the aquatic plants Utricularia Gibba from Spain Lake and Fontilnals sp Moss from the Holston River to the aquarium. The end result was a finished Micro Aquarium. I did not see that many organisms in my tank, because they have not been given a proper amount of time to grow. I did see a mosquito larvae and a flat worm around the the plants in the aquarium. Both organisms were moving around the plant.
